It’s been a while! I haven't sent out a newsletter for the past two weeks—life simply got busy, summer finally decided to show up in Copenhagen, and I took some much-needed time to just step away and enjoy it. But now I’m back, and I have the absolute perfect welcome-back spot and event list for you.

// SPOT OF THE WEEK

Hjørnet NV on Nattergalevej 38 is my new favorite place to grab a drink. After some months of renovation, this new local spot has opened at the end of June, and it’s exactly what the neighborhood needed. They serve coffee in the morning, panini for lunch, and a good glass of wine, beer, or a cocktail in the evening.

I stopped by for their opening, and it was great to see what the place has become with the new owner. It was the perfect evening with a glass of mousserende from @depanneurcph and great company!

Believe me, it’s a good idea to stop by this new corner, no matter if it is for coffee, a panino or a glass of wine in the evening sun!

Autopoul on Hejrevej is just my favorite place to grab a drink in summer. This week, on the longest day of the year, they are hosting a lovely community dinner. Yesterday, they started again their Sunday Market, a loppemarked that starts in the morning, where you can either have your own stand or go and maybe find something you would like. Other than that, believe me, it’s always a good idea to stop by!

Pick a sunny afternoon, grab a glass at the wagon, watch the corner of Hejrevej do its slow neighborhood thing. There aren’t many places in Copenhagen that feel this unforced.

Bjørnen og de Tolv Haner on Rentemestervej. NV’s wine bar scene just got a serious upgrade. If you remember Rentemestervej 62 as a closed event space, you’re in for a lovely surprise. It has officially opened its doors, and walking past, you feel instantly how well it fits Rentemestervej’s creative, industrial-leaning energy.

I stopped by recently after a long, breezy walk around Utterslev Mose, just for a glass with a friend. We ended up staying for more. We snagged a spot right in the sun, a crisp, carefully chosen natural wine and the easy kind of conversation that only happens when a place doesn’t rush you. If the weather turns, the indoor space is just as inviting. Industrial chic done with care, top-tier hospitality, and an atmosphere that feels stylish but never pretentious.

If you’ve been looking for your new go-to wine date spot in NV, this is one should definitely be on your list.

// PROJECT OF THE WEEK

Curious Neighbours. It’s not about a spot today but a really nice project.

A few days ago I met the face behind this initiative, and it’s stuck with me. The idea is to create a neighborhood lab and community for international creatives exploring what happens when people actually have a hand in shaping the place they live. Not just here in Nordvest, but across all of Copenhagen. It’s lovely to see events from it land in our neighborhood though!

It started around 8 years ago with a similar yet different purpose. Great to see what it has grown into with a lot of effort and connecting with people. One of the first meetups here in NV was at Dorthea’s Bar a few weeks back and is steadily building. This week they’re hosting an event over at Demokrati Garage.

Overall, one of the core ideas is to get people connected in physical spaces, and the Friends & Neighbours Directory is where you can find a likeminded person nearby. A growing, clickable list of international (and internationally-minded) creatives in Denmark — artists, designers, musicians, food people, filmmakers, you name it. Danes are of course welcome too, especially if you’re curious about meeting people from elsewhere.

// SPOT OF THE WEEK

Café Thoras at Thoravej29 is the café that always seems to have exactly what I'm craving.

On Saturday I was out on a long bike ride with a friend, and by the time we got back to Nordvest we were properly hungry. Thoras, with its big garden and a menu made for refueling, was exactly where we needed to be. There is nothing better than a post-ride BMO plate with some protein on the side.

But the best part of the visit wasn't the food. While I was there, I got to know by the lady behind the counter that the customer before me was telling her that he told her he'd found the place through Hidden Nordvest. He was on his way out but we got to chat for a bit, and honestly, it gave me the best feeling. It was such a great moment that reminded me why I keep doing this.

The good post-ride fuel and in-person feedback about Hidden Nordvest really made my weekend!

// SPOT OF THE WEEK

If you haven’t found your way to Rødder yet, this is your sign. Tucked in the heart of Nordvest right next to Heat Harmony, this vegetarian and ecological canteen, event space and catering service is exactly what fits Nordvest. It’s unpretentious, community-minded and genuinely delicious.

I stopped by for their Pasta Friday last week and ended up with an incredible gnocchi dish, eaten out in the sun. Such a great way to enjoy the middle of the day with good food.

They’re open for lunch Monday to Friday, 12:00–13:30, with a small team that welcomes you with a big smile and always happy to talk about what they do and why they do it.

Worth a try in case you are in the area and do not know where to have lunch.

I would say a great way to prep also for that Royal Run happening on Monday. Lacing up at 19:15 at Rentemestervej 64, sweating it out on the run, then letting the sauna do the rest. Sounds like a good Friday evening plan to me.

• DZIDRA turning 5 (Friday 17:00) @ Dzidra — Five years in and Dzidra is still one of those spots that does it all in the right way. Good drinks, good people, and a neighbourhood bar that has earned its place on the streets in Nørrebro. Because milestones of spots in other places than Nordvest deserve to be celebrated too!

If you have been passing by Peter Ipsens Allé lately, you have probably noticed the Catmandu food truck standing there, and since they officially opened on May 1st, I finally gave it a try a few days ago and it was a fantastic surprise.

It is serving really good, authentic Nepali food right in the center of the Nordvest we love and literally right around where I live. You can grab your meal to stay on one of their outside benches or take it to go for a scenic walk down Rentemestervej toward Utterslev Mose.

It is also the perfect local reward after a reformer pilates class at Inflowmotion Studio on Montmestervej. Go say hi and grab some great food while you are exploring the neighborhood.

The last cherry blossom trees on Den Sorte Plads, right next to Café Arrebo. Over the weekend, I caught people on the square soaking up the warm temperatures. Kids running around, neighbors sipping coffee in the sun, a couple of chess games unfolding outdoors. It was the perfect moment to also take in the blossoms, which sadly will come to an end soon, but they really made this spring even more beautiful than ever before.

Catch them while you can, grab a coffee from Café Arrebo and find a bench under the trees before the petals are gone for the year.

Autopoul is officially back for the 2026 season, and since this might be its final year before the old garage makes way for new developments, you really shouldn’t miss it. It’s located on Hejrevej close to Pico Pizza and Gamma NV.

By morning, it’s a great breakfast deal. Get you a coffee and a platter with fresh sourdough (from Skruens or Flere Fugle), butter, and cheese. By afternoon, the vibe shifts into an easygoing wine bar where you can get a beer, glass of wine, or a bottle directly from their iconic bar wagon. With its simple plastic chairs, olive trees, and rotating art at Contemporary10, it’s the ultimate spot to soak up the sun all day long.

Nordvest is getting pinker by the day. The iconic Cherry Blossom Alley is the perfect place to soak up the season and walk underneath a canopy of colorful trees.

In 1992, 43 Japanese cherry trees were planted in Bispebjerg Kirkegård. Today, they create a breathtaking pink archway that has finally begun to bloom this April. Because this spot has become so popular lately, it is usually buzzing with people. If you want to enjoy the view in peace, try to get there early in the morning.

Otherwise, just wander through the rest of Nordvest. You can easily spot blossoms throughout the neighborhood, especially near Emaljehaven and Café Thoras.

Thomas To Brød is the ultimate sourdough sanctuary for those mornings when you crave something crafted with real intention.

I first stumbled upon this basement gem on a Saturday morning right after Storm B had passed, while I was wandering through the quiet streets near Degnestavnen. It was the perfect, warm escape from the wind.

Stepping inside today, the smell of fresh loaves straight from the oven is enough to make you slow down instantly. Between the shelves stocked with organic Danish flour and the fact that Thomas is there baking every single loaf himself, it is a calm, honest spot that perfectly captures the DIY, creative spirit of Nordvest.

Hip Hop Café is a great spot for those days when the sun finally decides to show up.

I first stumbled upon this place on a snowy afternoon during winter while exploring the new edges of Mjølnerparken. It was the perfect spot to warm up with a hot cappuccino.

Walking past today in pure sunshine (but heavy wind), the corner location caught the light perfectly, making it the ideal spot to stop by and enjoy their excellent beans from Sensei Coffee.

Between the raw look of the graffiti on the walls and the super friendly service team, it is a calm spot that perfectly captures the creative spirit of this part of Copenhagen.

• Hold Kæft og Lyt (Thoravej 29) — A moving new exhibition is opening this Friday. Hold Kæft og Lyt gives foster children a platform to tell their stories in their own words. There is an official opening at 14:30, followed by a guided tour and screening at 16:00. Once again, Thoravej 29 hosts such a thoughtful community projects! (Friday)

Sauna85 is Rentemestervej’s go-to spot for hitting the reset button.

The sauna is spacious and powered by ovens that really know how to throw some heat. I have been there recently. The gusmester guided us through the session with essential oils, and the peppermint one was definitely my favorite one.

Between the warm wood of the changing rooms and the bliss of the ice-cold showers or ice bath, it is a perfect wellness experience right in the heart of Nordvest.
A place that gets you to slow down and relax after a long day.

Would recommend to know the numbers in danish but I am sure your neighboors can help you out (as they luckily did for me last time). (Tuesday)

• InFlowMotion Reformer Pilates Studio Opening — My friend is finally opening her new reformer pilates studio InFlowMotion on Møntmestervej. The studio’s welcome offer is still valid if you sign up before 1st of April! Can’t wait to join her for the first class after I am back in NV for Easter. (Wednesday)

• Vera’s Market (Under Buen) — One of my favorite Sunday activities is finally back. It’s is second-hand market season again, and Vera’s Market is kicking things off outdoors at Urban13. Perfect for a Sunday stroll through rows of vintage finds and great vibes under the bridge. (Sunday)

// THE EASTER HOLIDAY CHECK

Since we are heading into the Easter break, keep in mind that many local spots in NV will be slowing down. Thursday (April 2nd) through Monday (April 6th) are “red days” in Denmark, meaning many shops, cafes, and smaller businesses will either have reduced hours or be closed entirely.

My advice: Double-check the opening hours on Instagram or Google before you head out, especially for your favorite coffee spots and bakeries!

// SPOT OF THE WEEK

Kaffedepartementet is a Nordvest’s favorite when it comes to really good coffee.

It’s a laid-back, unpretentious space where you can grab a cup of coffee from their own roastery, settle in with your laptop, or just stop buy to fill your own coffee stock at home.

It feels like a great mix of regulars, remote workers, and neighbors passing through. The sunny benches are especially inviting on these spring days lately.

Above its entrance there is probably the graffiti most representative to how my weekends look like. Never spend one without a “bolle med ost” (BMO!). Luckily, the price is a different one than the one on the wall!

A place that blends quality coffee with everyday sun.

// NEW IN NORDVEST

Bjørnen & de tolv haner vinbar - A new wine bar in Nordvest

Rentemestervej got another gem. This time it is a wine bar that has a branch already in Amager. It’s on the sunny side of the street and definitely great for aperitivo time and a cozy time inside once it get darker.

Haven’t been there yet, but excited to try it out soon!

Talks with potential partners for events with “Hidden Nordvest Collective.” this spring are ongoing.

Excited to share a bit more soon.

That’s why I have gathered this list for you. Walking around in morning hours really helped me to find out where the sun hits first and isn’t blocked by the "muren" (the wall) effect.

// Garagebaren at Demokratigarage

The courtyard at Demokratigaragen is a sun magnet.

Grab a coffee from Flere Fugle and find a spot on the benches in front of Garagebaren where the industrial surroundings create a perfect windbreak for those early spring rays.

// Tekno Eatery

Tekno Eatery is our social canteen favorite in Nordvest.

Their outdoor area on the raw and popular Rentemestervej is the place to be for a sourdough bun with cheese or a granola bowl in the morning sun.

// Kaffedepartmentet

Grab a coffee from their own roastery at Kaffedepartmentet.

Located in a refurbished industrial building on, the outdoor seating catches the light beautifully as the neighborhood wakes up.

// HeatHarmony

Heatharmony is one of our local sauna gus spots in Nordvest.

After a sweaty session of Saunagus, there is nothing like stepping out into the fresh morning air and catching the light while your body recovers on those red benches.

// Rodder

Rodder is a prime event and lunch location.

While known for their catering services, their benches are a prime location to enjoy the sun while waiting for the lunch spot to open their doors from Tuesday to Friday from 12-13.30.

// Thora’s Have

Thora’s Have is the outdoor seating area of the Café Thora in Thoravej29.

It’s a hidden gem where the greenery meets the industrial vibe of Thoravej. It’s a quiet corner perfect for a morning reflection.

// Autopoul

One of my outdoor favorites is definitely Autopoul.

The iconic courtyard is sunny all day, but there is something special about the Southern European vibe in the morning when the white plastic chairs are still cool and the coffee is hot.

// Urban Camper Hostel Bar

Urban Camper Hostel Bar is definitely a place not spoken about enough.

Their rooftop terrace is the only one I know of here in Nordvest. It offers a spacious spot for Nordvest views, pétanque and early light before the rest of the world gets moving.

// Arrebo

Arrebo is not directly Nordvest but I will always include it.

This cozy corner café looks directly onto the Blacksquare. It’s one of the most reliable spots for morning light and people-watching. No laptops allowed, so just you and the sun.

Now that the sun is finally making its way back to our corner of Copenhagen, I hope this guide helps you claim your little slice of natural Vitamin D.

Nordvest is full of these quiet, bright spots if you know exactly where to stand.

Grab a coffee, find a bench, and soak it in while it lasts.

It’s a raw, industrial ecosystem where you can grab a coffee at Café Thoras or take a look at the temporary exhibition at Room Room.

It feels like a living community house, especially with their new Østerland corner at the entrance, featuring global handmade textiles and a library based on pure local trust.

A new reformer Pilates studio on Møntmestervej 27 designed as a calm, welcoming space where movement meets mindfulness. Perfect for anyone wanting to slow down, stretch out, and feel good.

Classes are small (max. 13 people) with personal guidance to ensure a supportive experience. Their opening offers are still ongoing and I can’t wait to try my first class after the Easter holidays!

It’s time to launch the “Hidden Nordvest Collective.” this spring.

Think: bike rides, movement sessions, coffee stops, and meeting new people in the neighborhood.

Routes are being planned and the first meetup will drop here soon.

Hidden Nordvest started with a simple habit: walking around the neighborhood and visiting cafés, restaurants and more.

The Ritual

Now, every weekend, I scan the neighborhood’s bulletin boards, shop windows, and instagram feeds to gather what’s coming up. I’ve lived here long enough to know that the best moments in Nordvest usually happen behind doors or in industrial backstreets that are easy to miss.

The Vision

I want Hidden Nordvest to be a space that is more than just a weekly update. It should be a growing community for those who belong to Nordvest or want to simply experience it:

• Weekly Event List: Every week, I’ll drop all the best pop-ups, workshops, and gatherings so you can spend your time actually attending them.

• Permanent Guides: I’ve mapped out the essentials—from the best saunas to hidden corners—on hiddennordvest.com so you always have a place to start.

• The Collective: Coming soon, the Hidden Nordvest Collective will move this project from your screen to the streets. I’m currently mapping routes for our first community biking and other movement events—focused on connection, action, and a good cup of coffee.
